Happy Mother's Day

I learned a very valuable lesson when I was ten years old. I was having a friend spend the night, and on the way home from school we stopped and bought friendship key chains. (What does a ten year old do with a key chain? I have no idea.) So we got these key chains. They were two puzzle pieces. One said best, the other said friends. All was well until my supposed “bff” wanted to spend all night playing video games with my little brother and totally ignoring me. Well, my friend left the next morning and I “forgot” to give her the friendship charm. Monday morning my mom drove me to school, and before I got out of the car I handed my mom the key chain. She looked a little puzzled (no pun intended) and I told her quite frankly, “Samantha* isn’t really my best friend anyway.”

Well, 10 years later my mom is still my best friend. Honestly.

Happy Mother’s Day!

*Name changed to protect the not-so-innocent sleaze who was totally macking on my baby brother.
