Hi cats. It's Friday! Truth be told, it's been a long week & I'm greeting this weekend with open arms. Nothing too exciting on the books, but it's sure to be an adventure. I must admit I'm getting SO excited for Valentine's Day. Let's be real- it's the only holiday that directly caters to my needs: chocolate, wine, flowers, and so much LOVE. So around these parts it's all things pink and RED (as in a wine tasting at one of our favorite spots) and some last minute shopping for the near & dears. Hope your weekend is sweet too.
Hey! It's ok…

If you refuse to acknowledge the humble opinion of a lowly groundhog unless he comes heralding good news. [6 more weeks of this crap? Ain't nobody got time for that.]

Guilt-free Friday!
Hello loves, it's Friday!? This week has been a fantastically drowsy blur. We got "snow" here in Coastal Carolina (more on that later!) so life stood still for a few days. Now the ice melts outside my window, slowly and surely, reminding me life too must begin again. I feel refreshed. It was a welcome break, a nice change of perspective, and the perfect dose of winter. Now the sun is back with a vengeance, and my spring fever with equal vigor. But for now, tomorrow is February, and you know how I love all things sweet.
In the mean time, it's the weekend… I hope yours is the happiest. xoxo
Hey! It's ok…
If all "beach body preparations" are being abandoned until after Valentine's Day. (I'm lookin at you, Ferrero Rocher)
If Adult Snow Days include significantly more red wine than hot cocoa.
To rep your favorite team on Sunday… even if they're not actually in the Super Bowl this year. (Go Panthers!)

Shameless Saturday
Guys, I'm tired. Do you ever get that way? It has been a busy week and by the time I got off work last night, covered in sweat & sweet tea, I was exhausted. I slept in late today & have every intention of being shamelessly lazy until I go to work tonight. I hope you're relaxing a bit this weekend & that it's sunny and beautiful wherever you are. xoxo
Hey! It's ok...
... if you never got into The Bachelor. Or The Bachelorette. Or Bachelor Pad. But you've seen every episode of Everyday Italian.
... if you're already thinking about what you're going to wear/eat/drink on Wednesday's night out, but to not know what you're doing this afternoon.
... if "adverse weather" justifies drinking coffee, painting your nails, and watching SATC reruns all morning.
...if the zesty Kraft guy wants to make me a salad... make my day, buddy.

Shameless Saturday
[quote by Veronica Shoffstall, full poem here]
Hi kittens. Happy weekend to you. Anything fun going on? I'm planning on getting some plants planted. Or something like that. The very thought of me being responsible for sustaining the life of something else is laughable at best, but when I look out my kitchen window at my delightful little patio, I find myself thinking, "Well, maybe..." I can't help but wonder if it will be the same way with kids one day. I hear babies crying now and I think "Never, ever..." But maybe, someday I'll watch my husband flipping flapjacks on a Saturday morning, or I'll puff up in pride as he scores the winning goal in a pick-up game and I'll think to myself "Well, maybe..."
Maybe that's what makes it love. It's not believing in someone else, it's finding someone who who makes you believe in yourself.
For now, it's a few hearty herbs and maybe a geranium. But I can't help but think "Well, maybe, someday, something more..."
Enjoy the weekend. Make it beautiful. xo
Hey! It's ok...
...if you don't really know what a "spirit animal" is, but you're fairly certain if you had one, it'd be Sauvignon Blanc
...if painting your nails typically takes the top spot on your to-do list.
...if you do too many squats and lunges to wear anything with an asymmetrical hem. "If yo mama gave it to ya baby girl let it show..." -Huey (aaand if a majority of your life lessons came from "Pop, Lock, and Drop It")

Guilt-free Friday
Ahhh I woke up early this morning, almost giddy at the thought of Guilt-free Friday. It has been far too long! I hope you have fun & exciting plans for this weekend. I'm hoping to be wildly productive, though there's an extra bottle of champagne in the fridge leftover from my sweet grandmother's luncheon yesterday. So cheers, my sweets, to creativity, productivity, and festivity! (because there's always a reason to celebrate.) xoxo until next time...

Guilt-free Friday!
Y'all. Y'allllll. This week has been in-sane in the men-brane. Seriously. So much going on, here & there & everywhere. Lots of big, exciting news, but I think I might hold out on you, just a few days, and enjoy this sweet holiday with the family. Truth be told, it really snuck up on me. Before you know it, ready or not, Christmas is here! So, on to the first batch of Christmas cookies & wrapping up the Christmas shopping that I started just yesterday!! Madness, I know, but in a deliriously fun and exciting kind of way. Also on this weekend's agenda? A Pink Martini Concert with all the favorites and a work party that promises to be just a little rowdy... 'Tis the season, right?
Hugs and mistletoe kisses to you and yours. xoxo
Until next time... Hey! It's ok...
...If a Crewcuts catalog has you fully convinced that you might actually be a suitable mother after all (as long as a J. Crew model is the father...)
...If you can't tell if you love the haircut or if you just so happen to have a huge, lesbian crush on Jessica Alba.
....If figuring out your favorite Michael Jackson song feels like a defining moment...

Guilt-free Friday!
Hi, remember me? I know, I feel like an absentee parent, neglecting this little spot so much lately. I certainly do miss it, and the ideas and inspirations are overflowing, but life just seems to be tugging in a million different directions. Tomorrow starts one of my most favorite months, and with lots of new & exciting things on the horizon, I can't help but feel a little giddy. I'm beyond thrilled to share this most wonderful time of the the year with you.
Lots of good things coming up, I tell ya, lots of good things.
Until then though, hey, it's ok...
... if you know more about who the NFL players are dating than you know about the actual rules of the game.
.... to gain a little weight around the holidays. We'll call it the "festive fifteen" and tell ourselves it's to stay warm through the colder months.
... to still have boxes from college waiting to be unpacked, if your diploma sits neatly unopened in it's original mailing envelope, and if you still ask for the student discount. There's nothing wrong with holding on to your youth, and if a pile of boxes in the attic and an unframed diploma makes you feel like your college days remain in the not-so-distant past, by all means.

Guilt-free Friday!
Happy Friday, Happy Weekend! Any fun plans on the books? My sweet brother is headed home for a few days and the weather promises to be perfect (mild sunny days, chilly evenings.) I am looking forward to getting in some family time & sipping seasonal beers on the back porch with a big fire burning! Did I mention I have three days off? I'm a happy girl.
Have a relaxing weekend! A wink and a smile until next time...
Hey! It's ok...
... to think it's totally weird that Taylor Swift is dating someone who's still in high school. AND a Kennedy. But to be counting down the days to her new album regardless...
... if calling french fries "frites" makes them seem totally chic and nutritionally sound.
... if you're just now catching on to the wonder that is Spotify. (yes, I'm what they call a "late adapter") But um hello! You can listen to entire albums! I'm loving the latest from DMB and I've listened to GOOD Music: Cruel Summer more times than I'd like to admit...
I can't pick a favorite song, but this one is up there...

Guilt-free Friday!
Hi kittens and happy long weekend to you! I just finished all my work for the month and I am one happy camper. Seriously, is there anything better than meeting a deadline, finishing an assignment, and crossing things off your to-do list? I don't think so. Well, maybe ice cream. Yes ice cream is better. And massages. ahhhh
Are you doing anything fun for Labor Day? It has always been one of my favorite weekends. Even though I'm remarkably nostalgic and I hate everything that possibly signifies the end something good (the end of summer, the end of my 22nd year) I can't help but feel a little exuberant about the new things to come (fall! winter! spring! a new month, a new year, 23!)
I hope your weekend is light and lively, filled with fun and celebration. A giant bear hug until next time...
Hey! It's ok...
if new glasses* make you feel infinitely smarter, more mysterious, deeply intellectual and interesting. But a new watch will never, ever get you somewhere on time.
and while we're on the subject... what is it with these people who set clocks 5, 7, 10 minutes early?
to be a total diva on your birthday. I mean why should you act any differently than you do every other day of your life?
to have a full, legitimate conversation with your dog. Why talk to yourself when you can share your ideas with a furry friend who will listen attentively and even tilt his head inquisitively throughout the conversation (as long as you slip in a few key words... treat, leash, out)

Julian sent me this picture one day and I adore it.
When he's not being living the thug life, Yoshi is actually quite dignified. And a great listener. :)
**New glasses:
They might make me feel smarter, but I can't resist the urge to make funny faces and take awkward, unflattering self portraits every time I put them on...

Guilt-free Friday!
Hi kittens & happy weekend! What's on your agenda? I have loads of work to complete, so I'm not so secretly hoping for terrible weather to ease the pain of by being trapped indoors. I hope you get to have some fun this weekend, or at least get lots of stuff accomplished. Until next time...

... to wash down your vitamins with coffee, which obviously justifies brewing another cup.

Guilt-free Friday!
Hey kids... it's Friday. Between the kink I've had in my neck for... wait for it... three weeks, the fact that I haven't had chocolate since last Sunday (dessert detox) and being stuck inside today while the weather is beyond glorious.... it's safe to say I'm a stage 4 Crankenstein. I'm trying to shake the feeling with lots of caffeine and a celebratory weekend to look forward to. Now if I can just make it through the rest of the day... :)
I hope you're having a happy, non-cranky day. Or if you are feeling irritable, I hope you can at least ease the pain with cookies. Have a fun weekend! Until next time...

... to kind of feel like Rocky as you mentally prepare for the VS Semi-Annual Sale... cue music...

Hi cats & happy Friday! It's a deliciously sunny day here, so this afternoon I'm putting the top down and hitting the road. I'll be spending the weekend in Topsail Beach celebrating another birthday... this time my BBF Rob (click here to see his cake from last year!) Here's hoping the weather stays sunny & that it's beautiful wherever you are. Until Monday...
Hey! It's ok...

if you have started your morning by playing "Call Me Maybe" 4 out of 5 days this week. I hated it at first, but I've gotten to the point where I can't even wait for the song to end before I restart it. #problem

Guilt-free Friday!
Hi my sweets! It's been far too long since we've done one of these, hasn't it? What are you getting into this weekend? After a lot of running around lately, I'm looking forward to taking it easy, slowing down, and enjoying this beautiful place I call home.
Marcel Proust said, "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." Looking around today, the trees seem a little greener, the ocean a deeper shade of blue, and the birds are chirping a few octaves higher. Maybe it's new eyes, maybe it's just April, or maybe absence made this little heart grow fonder. Whenever I return from a trip, I am even more acutely aware that there's always a vacation waiting for me in own backyard. I can't help but feel a little jubilant as I walk through the arrivals gate. This is home. Kick up your feet and soak up the beauty that surrounds you. Until next time...
Hey! It's ok...
... to bypass the hot tea, honey, and lemon and stick with your go-to latte whenever your throat is feeling sore. Calcium >Vitamin C.
... to seriously laugh out loud at nearly every #whatshouldwecallme.
... to sleep on the way to and from the bar. Not like "drunken stupor, passed out" sleep, but "it's past 10:30, why am I still awake, just resting my eyes" kind of thing.
... if you are fully capable of doing your own taxes, keeping up with car maintenance, etc... but to relegate such tasks to your main man. After all, that's what dad's are for! :)

Guilt-free Friday!
Hello lovey loos! Happy Friday to you! Do you have anything special planned for this weekend? Taylor is heading north to spend a few days here in Emerald Isle. Our time promises to be relaxed and cozy, filled with my mom's spaghetti, red wine, watching basketball, and booking flights! (details to come!) Sunday afternoon I have a little "speaking engagement." I'm filled with nervous excitement and would appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I'm putting the finishing touches on my presentation (again, details to come.) I hope you have a blissful weekend. Do something adventurous! Until we meet again...
Hey! It's ok...

... if you can tell time based on your coffee consumption. Third cup? It must be 9:15.
... to challenge the refs calls against your team. Even if you don't technically know what traveling is. "That was all ball! Oh, I mean, he didn't even move! Yeah..." (just for future reference)

Hola Babies... are you having a happy day? It is Friday, so it has to be just a little happy. Busy weekend ahead but hoping it is very productive. Lots of big things happening... ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. All good, fun, new, and exciting. I hope you do big things this weekend! xo
Hey! It's ok...
... if raiding the pantry/fridge is your idea of spring cleaning. (Or, lets be real, emptying your wine rack. Cheers!)
... if you can't decide which scares you more: Snooki announcing her pregnancy or seeing on Facebook that everyone you went to high school with is knocked up.
... if your motivation for working out is the smug feeling of self-satisfaction you get when walking past the bathing suit section in Target. Yes, it's March. I see you, bikini season. This tush is ready.

Guilt-free Friday!
Hi hii kids! Happy Friday! Are you getting into anything fun this long weekend? Taylor and I loaded up the car and are headed west for a few days. To be honest, it has been a long week and this afternoon I found myself feeling pretty tired and a little defeated. It happens, but I'm certain a change of scenery will give me a change of perspective. We have super fun plans for tomorrow, but I think I'm going to hold out the details until next week! How's that for a cliffhanger? I hope it is beautiful wherever you are, and I look forward to catching you on the flip side!
Hey, it's ok...
... if 4 hours in the car justifies the consumption of 4000 calories worth of junk food. (personal faves: nacho cheese bugles and cheddar & sour cream ruffles. I'm partial to snax that turn your fingers orange. Yum.)
... if the right striped sweater (or a Starbucks cup in hand) makes you instantly feel more fashionable.
... to rationalize purchasing excessive amounts of Girl Scout cookies because "it's for a good cause." (8 boxes...)

Guilt-free Friday!
Hello hello and a happy weekend to you! The temperatures are supposed to drop just a bit, so I'm hoping to spend some time cuddled up by the fire this weekend. I'm looking forward to watching the Super Bowl (commercials) and eating spicy chili. I hope your weekend is delightfully cozy, too! Until Monday...
Hey! It's ok...
... to start shopping for bikinis in February. Or to banish the harrowing thought from your mind until mid-March.
... to wish Taylor Swift was doing the halftime show instead of Madonna [yep, I said it. sue me.]
...if you're still rooting for Tebow. [and if you just might have a giant crush on him... but seriously, who doesn't?!?]

Happy rainy Friday, friends! It is a very special Friday, because today my little brother turns 21! He is headed home for the night to celebrate with the family and I couldn't be happier. Here's hoping you've got something fun to celebrate this weekend. Until next time, cheers and the warmest of wishes.

Guilt-free Friday!
Hi hiii dear darlings and a happy weekend to you! I'm headed off to Wilmington... Taylor and I have an event tonight (and I still have no idea what I'm wearing) Other than that, it promises to be a relaxing weekend. I am hoping we can squeeze in a viewing of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. Have you seen it yet? I read the book (a few years ago) and have been looking forward to the film, especially since Tom Hanks is in it {love.} Here's hoping your weekend is lovely too. Until Monday...
Hey! It's ok...
... if the length of your shower is directly related to the exterior temperature. The colder the weather, the longer (and hotter) the shower.
... if a stomach ache is enough to make you swear off all things unholy: refined sugar, bleached flour, alcohol... Until someone makes brownies.
... to like Valentine's Day. End of discussion.
